About Us...
I have been working with personal computers since they first emerged. I started with a Radio Shack
TRS-80, moved to an Apple II clone, then to a Macintosh Plus, then into the world of IBM
compatibles. I have used everything from DOS, to UNIX, to Linux, to OS/2, to all versions of
Windows. For kicks, I maintain a complete Windows domain in my house as both a test and development
platform and an educational tool. I have taught myself most of what I know, but I also have certifications
in many technologies as well.
I started in telecommunications in 1987 and have installed and repaired everything from
large Rolm (now Siemens!) PBX's to small Norstar key systems. I am a certified Aspect ACD maintenance
and installation technician, a Certified Genesys CTI Engineer, a certified Edify installer, and the list goes on.
For the last nine years, I have worked in the corporate IT sector in voice and network operations.
My wife of 18 years and I have a young daughter and enjoy travel, Geocaching,
and driving through the desert in my Jeep.
I have always been interested in how things work, and computers are no exception.
I have been working with them in a variety of capacities for the past 22 years. I have done computer
programming in multiple languages, and have worked with Windows based systems (95, 98, NT, 2000, & XP)
in both server and workstation environments.
For the last 11 years I have been working in a corporate environment where I have
been focusing my efforts on the telecommunications area, specifically on Internet and Intranet related
technologies. In pursuit of these efforts, I have received a number of certifications, including the
CCNA, CCNP and CCIE (#7249). I have also co-authored a number of books including,
CCNP: Cisco Internetwork
Troubleshooting Study Guide,
CCNP: Support Study Guide
, and Building a Cisco Wireless LAN.
In addition to working as an author, I have also done technical editing on a number of books in the
networking area.
After recently relocating from the Philadelphia area, I currently live in
Chandler Arizona with my wife of 12 years.
